About the Department
New Oriental’s ELT Department is dedicated to helping students age 15 to adult excel in their ability to communicate successfully in written and spoken English with a focus on improving students’ practical English language skills for greater success in business, education, and/or travel. Using Cambridge University’s Touchstone curriculum the ELT department combines traditional, modern, and progressive teaching techniques to cater to students’ different learning styles and preferences. Students range from high school students with interests in study abroad to business professionals seeking to advance their career.
Job Scope
-Teach English as a living subject and a tool for communication;
-Employ a communicative teaching approach encouraging the use of full sentences, task based learning, engaging activities, games, and student to student interaction;
-Create an interactive teaching environment by using conversation, interaction, and the application of knowledge as an integral part of the learning process;
-Development and delivery of lesson plans that ignite students' ability to reason and argue, expands students' critical thinking skills, establishes innovative thought, and sparks imagination;
-Utilize classroom management techniques that create a student-centered atmosphere requiring students partake in classroom activities and assignments;
-Employ the use of technology to supplement lectures and maintain student interest;
-Assist with the management and contribute to the evolution of existing curriculum;
-Measure progress and learning outcomes through formal and informal assessments and progress reports.
Knowledge and Qualifications for the Role
-Educated to degree level (minimum undergraduate degree)
-TEFL/TESOL/CELTA certification
Desired Skills and Experience
-English language fluency; proper grammar, sentence structure, word tense, subject-verb agreement, proper use of adjectives and adverbs, neutral accent, clear pronunciation, good intonation and English language rhythm
-2 years previous teaching experience preferred
-Passionate about teaching and dedicated to successful student outcomes
-Ability to lead and engage students
-Energetic and enthusiastic disposition
-Professional and responsible demeanor
-Ability to commit to a minimum 12 month contract
-Knowledge and/or experience of Chinese culture preferred
Salary and Benefits
-17,500rmb monthly salary (negotiable for more experienced teachers)

Other Considerations
This role will require frequent work during the evenings and weekends as the majority of our students are full-time students or employed full-time.
