ADJUNCT FACULTY POSITION IN CHINA
TO TEACH INRODUCTORY MUSIC OF STATE UNIV NEW YORK NEW PALTZ

The Course: MUS 100 Music of the World. A broad-based survey course for the non-major designed to illustrate the elements of the arts and the cultural styles employed, with numerous examples of both functional and professional application. The course explores Western art and popular forms, as well as sounds, jazz, musical theater, and music for the cinema. Intended for non-music majors.

The Location: High schools in Shandong or Jiangsu Province, China where SUNY New Paltz University in the High School (UHS Program) courses are delivered.

Contract duration: 10 months from September 2015 to June 2016. Full-time teaching position. Opportunity for contract extension based on continued availability of course and satisfactory review. Competitive adjunct teaching rate commensurate with experience.

Training and Support:
-IAA's Shanghai office will provide logistical support
-IAA New York Program Coordinator will maintain contact with instructor to provide professional support.
-Instructor will be required to attend the Summer Training Institute for all instructors on the prior to departure for China and beginning the position. Following their appointment, Instructor will also attend ongoing professional development seminars.
-Training and/or mentoring will be provided by IAA staff and university faculty Mentors throughout the teaching semesters.

The Candidate: Candidates must have advanced degrees (Master’s or PhD) in Music or a closely related field.

The candidate should initially email a cover letter, resume, and evidence of effectiveness in teaching (such as an evaluation by students or peers, and a course syllabus used in prior teaching). Email to HR.
