International Academic Alliance (IAA) seeks Instructor candidates qualified to teach an Introductory Computer Science college course offered through a major American university, and taught to advanced China high school students.

China public school in Shandong Province – Dongying City
Position:
This opening is for a full-time teaching position in the IAA Honors Program at the Shengli No.1 High School, Dongying City, Shandong, China, beginning MARCH 2016. Instructor will teach a combination of courses to Program students, to include:
- An American college course in Introductory Computer Applications offered through a major American university, and
- Course computer lab sessions for computer-based work.
Responsibilities:
Standard work week comprises 40 hours of teaching and course management responsibilities.
- Delivering and managing their assigned American college course, and course computer lab sessions:
- Deliver a high-quality college course to advanced 12th grade high school students. The American university Adjunct Instructorship also includes a course mentoring component with a university faculty professor to ensure the course in China is taught in the same format as college courses in the US.
- Oversee and monitor students’ computer lab work to build out projects for the university course. Courses are taught to reflect the skills level, competencies and rigor needed to succeed at an introductory American college course in the subject.
To ensure effective conduct of the above course load, the Instructor will:
- Manage course contents and benchmark standards for effective course management, daily instruction and student outcomes.
- Organize and deliver in-class learning experiences, lesson plans and develop course assignments designed to achieve course/curriculum objectives, benchmarks and content pacing schedule for effective course delivery.
- Effective classroom administration including documenting course materials, student attendance, class participation, and timely assignment grading.
- Attend and participate in pre-service and in-service training.
Qualifications:
- Advanced degree (Master’s or PhD) in Computer Science, as appropriate. Evidence of prior adjunct teaching in computer science or relevant work at Western universities.
- TESOL certification helpful but not required.
- Native fluency in English
- Highly organized with strong classroom management skills in intercultural settings
- Knowledge of student Learning Management Systems and/or online courseware.
- Team player, with an all-hands-on-deck approach to teaching, and creating a positive, supportive learning environment for all.

- Professionalism | Conscientiousness; ability to effectively deliver on course standards and teaching outcomes with record of past successes; able to work collaboratively with colleagues on all facets; excellent judgment, tact and appropriateness/sensitivity in an intercultural work setting.
- Global Mindedness | Desire to learn from other cultures and improve teaching repertoire through expanded, new opportunities in diverse settings
- Team Spirit | Ability to engage program team members and work together constructively in delivering a high quality American program overseas.
Compensation:
Salary commensurate with experience. Apartment housing, health and RT airfare provided.
