The performing arts teacher is going to work with the school students on the development of musical and drama potential. She/he should be skilled at both of these areas and willing to collaborate with the homeroom teachers and the PYP coordinator on the development of stand alone PYP units of inquiry. The teacher is also going to be charged with supporting preparing the students for shows and activities both within and outside of the school.
Responsibilities:
- Take on the role of the performing arts teacher at the international department
- Teach music, musical drama and drama to preschool and primary school students
- Manage and supervise the classroom behaviour and learning
- Implement the stand alone units of inquiry
- Develop students second language competency
- Collaborate with the homeroom teachers and the TA
- Develop lesson plans and unit planners in accordance with the rules and regulations of
the shool
- Take part in collaborative planning sessions with the PYP coordinator
- Prepare students for performances and class shows
- Report to the principal on the development of the students
- Engage in dialogue with the parents and other members of the community
- Represent the school at events and workshops
- Take part in mandatory IB workshops at a time arranged by the school
Requirements:
- English speaker or non-native speakers accepted for subject positions
- Kindergarten or lower primary school teaching experience
- Experience in the IB Primary Years Program a plus
- PGCE or a BA in Education preferred or relevant degree in the applied position
preferred (Arts degree for Visual Arts Teacher, etc)
- Montessori or Reggio experience a plus
- A positive and enthusiastic attitude working with children
Compensation and Benefits:

- AFTER-TAX salary of up to 30,000rmb (4,800USD)/mth based on experience
