*English Language Arts Program @ AHEAD-Wasatch Academy Diploma Program (CHINA) *

English Language Arts is a comprehensive study, combining the five skills of language arts in
order to understand literature and its value where students are expected to develop analytical
skills and grow in their self-expression. Classes generally revolve around reading novels, essays
and other forms of literature, and require students to analyze, interpret and dissect written
material in order to compare, contrast and discuss elements, like theme, characters and plot.
Proficient writing skills are necessary at this point as these discussions of literature typically
manifest in the form of an essay or research paper. Other mediums including drama, creative
writing, poetry, etc., may also be utilized in achieving learning objectives.

Teachers are responsible for the organization and execution of the classes they teach, for participation in various departmental and school groups and endeavors, and for participating in other capacities as assigned by the administration. Students are selected and enrolled in the program based on prior academic achievement, provincial high school entry exams (中考), partner school entry requirements and personal interviews as required.
