Social studies courses draw from a wide spectrum of disciplines — anthropology, archaeology, economics, geography, history, law, philosophy, political science, psychology, religion and sociology — to educate students in the fundamentals of the humanities, history and social sciences.
Responsibilities
As a social studies teacher, your day-to-day tasks include:
•Previous experience in teaching social studies or related subjects under international curriculums, such as IB, AP, etc is preferred.
•Contributes to student learning, growth, and advancement in social studies subject
•Demonstrates academic competence in social studies area, and displays an inclination for developing integrated and interdisciplinary work across the curriculum.
•Maintains a growth mindset toward student learning, teaching practice, and personal/collective professional development.
•Serves as a role model and an innovative and creative learner with an insatiable thirst for knowledge, personal growth, and being on the cutting edge of instructional practice and pedagogy in social studies.
•Collaborates effectively with a variety of school meetings & events to increase student performance and contribute to advancing the teaching and learning craft.
•Looks beyond the walls of the classroom and demonstrates global competence and how their work will expand the impact of students’ work to their families and local and global communities.
•Recognizes the relationship between social-emotional learning and academic performance, and aspires toward developing and teaching the whole child.
•Designs and facilitates differentiated and personalized learning goals and activities that follow a coherent sequence, are aligned to instructional goals, and engage students in high-level cognitive activity.
•Demonstrating social studies knowledge of safety procedures and applying said procedures.
•Planning and preparing daily lessons that are relevant in addressing needs of students.
•Creating a classroom environment of respect, rapport, and positive relationships
•Establishing classroom procedures.
•Managing student behavior.
•Communicating clearly and accurately while using a variety of teaching techniques.
•Engaging students in learning.
•Contributing to positive school staff culture.
•Demonstrating professionalism in dress, language, timeliness, communications, etc.
•Utilizing and modeling appropriate classroom management.

Qualifications:
•Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in the related field
•Recent teaching experience, coursework, or other activity in the related area
•Qualified for a China work visa
