Position Overview
The High School English Language Arts Teacher designs and delivers engaging lessons that build literacy, analytical thinking, and effective communication skills. The teacher creates an inclusive classroom where English learners and advanced students alike can grow as readers, writers, and thinkers.
Key Responsibilities
Design and implement engaging lessons aligned to U.S. Common Core Standards in Reading, Writing, Speaking & Listening, and Language.
Cultivate a student-centered classroom that values curiosity, creativity, and collaboration.
Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of English language learners and students at varying proficiency levels.
Integrate project-based learning, discussion, and authentic assessments to promote deep understanding.
Provide meaningful feedback that guides students’ growth as writers and communicators.
Collaborate with colleagues across departments and with the ESL team to support literacy development.
Maintain strong communication with parents, counselors, and administrators to ensure student well-being.
Participate in professional learning and contribute to school-wide initiatives that support our mission and community.
Supervise and engage with students during school events, activities, and field experiences.
Qualifications and Requirements
Bachelor’s or master’s degree in the subject area.
A relevant license, certificate, or registration.
Excellent time management, planning, and organizational skills.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Resilience and a positive attitude.
Excellent interpersonal and written and verbal communication skills.
The ability to establish rapport and build professional relationships with adolescents.
A high degree of professionalism.
A growth mindset.
Experience: 3 or more years of classroom teaching experience (experience with English Language Learners preferred).
Teaching License/Certification.
Experience with US Common Core in Middle School or High School.
