Job Title: Economics Teacher (Secondary School)

Position Overview
We are seeking a passionate, innovative, and highly qualified Economics Teacher to inspire and educate our diverse student body. The ideal candidate will be adept at delivering engaging, rigorous, and inquiry-based economics instruction within an international context. Experience with internationally recognized curricula such as IGCSE, A-Level, AP, or the IB Diploma Programme is essential. This role requires not only a deep understanding of economic theory but also the ability to connect concepts to real-world global issues and foster critical thinking, analytical skills, and financial literacy in students.
Key Responsibilities
1. Teaching & Learning:
• Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality, differentiated lessons in economics for assigned grade levels
• Foster an inclusive, student-centered learning environment that encourages active participation, debate, and intellectual curiosity.
• Utilize a variety of teaching methodologies, technology, and resources to cater to diverse learning needs and styles.
• Effectively integrate real-world data, case studies, and current global economic events into the curriculum.
• Develop students' skills in quantitative analysis, essay writing, data response, and critical evaluation.
2. Assessment & Evaluation:
• Design, administer, and mark a range of formative and summative assessments to monitor student progress and inform instruction.
• Provide timely, constructive, and specific feedback to students to support their academic growth.
• Prepare students thoroughly for external examinations and internal benchmarks.
• Maintain accurate and comprehensive records of student achievement and attendance.
3. Curriculum & Contribution:
• Contribute to the ongoing development, review, and enhancement of the economics curriculum and related resources.
• Participate actively in departmental meetings, collaborative planning, and school-wide professional learning communities.
• Support cross-curricular initiatives, particularly with Mathematics, Business Studies, and Global Perspectives.
4. Professional Development & School Community:
• Engage in ongoing professional development to stay current with pedagogical best practices and developments in the field of economics.
• Establish and maintain positive, professional relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
• Participate in school events, parent-teacher conferences, and open days.
Qualifications & Experience
Essential:
• A Bachelor’s degree or higher in Economics, Finance, or a closely related field.
• A minimum of 2-3 years of successful teaching experience
• Strong intercultural competence and ability to work in a diverse community.
