Position Overview: We are seeking an enthusiastic, creative, and qualified Economics Teacher to deliver engaging and comprehensive economics education across primary and secondary levels. The ideal candidate will inspire students to explore economic principles, develop analytical and applied skills, and cultivate an understanding and appreciation of both local and global economic phenomena. This role requires adaptability to teach within different school curricula while maintaining high standards of academic inquiry and expression.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality, inquiry-based lessons in Economics aligned with the school's international curriculum (e.g., IB PYP/MYP/DP, IGCSE, A-Level, AP Economics, or a standards-based international framework).
2. Teach a wide range of economic concepts, theories, and analytical methods—including but not limited to microeconomics, macroeconomics, international economics, and development economics—tailored to various age groups and proficiency levels, using relevant real-world case studies.
3. Foster a creative, inclusive, and stimulating classroom atmosphere where every student feels encouraged to participate actively, explore ideas, and develop their own perspectives on economic analysis.
4. Integrate the history of economic thought, contemporary economic issues, and critical thinking exercises into the curriculum, exposing students to diverse economic models, global economic challenges, and development contexts across cultures.
5. Develop students' abilities to conceptualize, analyze, evaluate economic problems, and engage in rigorous academic reflection through assessments such as research reports, project-based assignments, and examinations.
6. Manage teaching resources effectively, including textbooks, multimedia tools, and data resources, ensuring a safe, organized, and intellectually stimulating learning environment.
7. Organize and showcase student learning outcomes within the school community and contribute actively to school-wide economics-related events, competitions, or extracurricular clubs/activities.
8. Differentiate instruction to meet the varied learning needs, interests, and language proficiencies of students in a bilingual/multilingual setting.
9. Collaborate effectively with colleagues within the Humanities & Social Sciences department and across other subject areas to promote interdisciplinary learning projects.
10. Maintain regular communication with parents regarding student progress, project outcomes, and academic achievements.
11. Participate actively in professional development, faculty meetings, and school initiatives.
Qualifications and Experience:
1. Bachelor’s degree or higher in Economics, Economics Education, or a closely related field (Master’s degree preferred).
2. A recognized teaching qualification/certification (e.g., PGCE, teaching license, QTS).
3. Minimum of 2-3 years of successful classroom teaching experience in Economics, preferably within an international K-12 school setting.
4. Strong proficiency in English (both written and spoken) is essential. Proficiency in Mandarin Chinese is a significant advantage for collaboration and communication in the bilingual context.
5. A comprehensive portfolio or evidence demonstrating solid subject matter expertise and excellent teaching practice (e.g., sample lesson/unit plans, student work examples, teaching reflections).
6. Deep knowledge of mainstream economic theories, research methodologies, and related data analysis tools.
7. Familiarity with one or more international economics curricula and assessment practices.
8. Excellent communication, intercultural competence, and collaboration skills.
9. Commitment to student-centered learning, innovation in economics education, and ongoing professional growth.
We Offer:
1. A competitive international compensation and benefits package.
2. A vibrant, diverse, and supportive community of students, parents, and educators.
3. Opportunities for professional development and career growth.
4. The chance to contribute significantly to a thriving and growing economics and related programs within a unique multi-curriculum educational environment.
