Position OverviewWe are looking for an enthusiastic Primary Arts/Drama Teacher to design and deliver engaging, age-appropriate lessons that integrate drama, creative movement, storytelling, and basic visual arts skills. The role will involve fostering students’ self-expression, teamwork, and confidence while aligning with national curriculum standards. This is a full-time position with a start date in Spring or Summer 2026.
Key Responsibilities
Plan and teach weekly arts/drama lessons for primary students (Key Stages 1–2), adapting content to suit diverse learning needs and abilities.
Develop creative projects, including class plays, skits, storytelling performances, and visual arts displays (e.g., painting, crafts, set design for productions).
Encourage students to explore emotions, characters, and narratives through improvisation, role-play, and script work.
Collaborate with classroom teachers to integrate arts/drama into cross-curricular topics (e.g., history, literature, science).
Organize and lead school-wide arts events, such as assemblies, festivals, or end-of-term performances.
Assess student progress through formative and summative evaluations, providing constructive feedback to students and parents.
Maintain a safe, inclusive, and stimulating classroom environment that encourages creativity and risk-taking.
Stay updated on best practices in primary arts education and participate in professional development opportunities.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Education, Drama, Fine Arts, or a related field; a teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, QTS, or equivalent) is essential.
Proven experience teaching drama and/or visual arts to primary-aged children, with a portfolio of past lessons or projects (preferred).
Strong understanding of child development and how to adapt creative activities for different age groups and learning styles.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students, colleagues, and parents.
Passion for the arts and a commitment to making creativity accessible and enjoyable for all students.
Ability to work collaboratively in a team and contribute to the school’s wider arts initiatives.
