Position Overview

The school is seeking an experienced and passionate IB Diploma Programme English A: Literature teacher to join our international secondary team. The successful candidate will deliver a rigorous, engaging, and inquiry-based English Literature curriculum aligned with the International Baccalaureate (IB) philosophy and standards, preparing students for academic success in global universities.

Key Responsibilities

Teaching & Learning
• Teach IB DP English A: Literature (SL and HL) to Grades 11–12 students.
• Design and deliver engaging lessons aligned with IB curriculum frameworks and assessment criteria.
• Prepare students for IB internal and external assessments, including Paper 1, Paper 2, the Individual Oral, and the Higher Level Essay.
• Guide and supervise Extended Essays in Group 1 (Studies in Language and Literature).
• Provide timely, constructive feedback to support student academic growth.
• Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learner needs, including EAL students.

Curriculum & Assessment
• Develop schemes of work, unit planners, and assessments aligned with IB standards.
• Maintain accurate records of student progress and assessment data.
• Participate in moderation and standardization processes.
• Stay current with IB developments and curriculum updates.

Student Support & Pastoral Care
• Serve as a homeroom/advisory teacher if required.
• Support students’ academic, social, and emotional development.
• Communicate effectively with parents regarding student progress.

Professional Collaboration
• Collaborate with colleagues in curriculum planning and interdisciplinary initiatives.
• Participate in professional development, including IB workshops.
• Contribute to school events, committees, and extracurricular programmes (e.g., debate, writing club, Model United Nations).

Qualifications & Experience

Required:
• Bachelor’s degree in English, English Literature, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
• Recognized teaching qualification.
• Minimum of 2 years of secondary teaching experience.
• Strong knowledge of literary analysis and academic writing instruction.
• Excellent communication skills in English.

Preferred:
• IB DP teaching experience (English A: Literature).
• Experience supervising Extended Essays.
• Familiarity with inquiry-based and student-centered learning approaches.
• Experience teaching in an international school setting.
• Cross-cultural experience or interest in working in China.
