Job Overview
The Primary Homeroom Teacher is responsible for delivering a high-quality, engaging, and student-centred learning experience within a British bilingual curriculum. The teacher will lead a primary class, teach core subjects in English, and work collaboratively with Chinese co-teachers to support bilingual development and holistic student growth. The role emphasises strong pastoral care, effective classroom management, and the implementation of international best practices aligned with the English National Curriculum.

Key Responsibilities
Teaching and Learning
• Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging lessons aligned with the English National Curriculum and the school’s bilingual education framework.
• Teach core primary subjects including English, Mathematics, Science, and thematic or project-based learning units.
• Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs, abilities, and language levels of students.
• Incorporate inquiry-based and student-centred teaching strategies to encourage critical thinking and creativity.
• Work closely with Chinese co-teachers to support bilingual learning and cross-curricular integration.
Classroom Management
• Create a positive, inclusive, and safe classroom environment that supports student well-being and engagement.
• Establish clear expectations and routines for behaviour and learning.
• Monitor and support students’ academic, social, and emotional development.
Assessment and Reporting
• Assess and monitor student progress using formative and summative assessment strategies.
• Maintain accurate records of student achievement and learning development.
• Prepare student reports and participate in parent–teacher conferences.
• Use assessment data to inform teaching and support personalised learning.
Pastoral Care
• Act as the primary pastoral contact for students in the homeroom class.
• Promote student well-being, character development, and positive relationships.
• Support students’ social and emotional growth in collaboration with school counsellors and leadership when necessary.
Collaboration and Communication
• Collaborate with colleagues in planning, curriculum development, and school initiatives.
• Work closely with teaching assistants and Chinese co-teachers to support student learning.
• Communicate effectively with parents regarding student progress, behaviour, and well-being.
School Life and Professional Contribution
• Participate in school events, extracurricular activities, assemblies, and field trips.
• Contribute to the development of the school’s academic programmes and initiatives.
• Engage in ongoing professional development and reflective practice.

Qualifications and Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in Education or a relevant subject area.
• Recognised teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, QTS, or equivalent).
• Minimum of 2 years’ teaching experience in primary education (international or bilingual school experience preferred).
• Strong knowledge of the English National Curriculum.
• Experience teaching English as an Additional Language (EAL) learners is an advantage.
• Excellent classroom management and organisational skills.
