JOB DESCRIPTION: MATHEMATICS TEACHER

Curriculum
The school follows an internationally recognised curriculum framework, leading to IGCSE and A-Level qualifications. Teachers are expected to deliver lessons that align with these examination standards while fostering critical thinking and a deep understanding of mathematical concepts.
Key Responsibilities
Curriculum Delivery and Classroom Practice
Plan and deliver engaging mathematics lessons that cater to a range of learning styles and abilities across secondary levels.
Develop well-structured units of work aligned with internationally recognised curricula, including IGCSE and A-Level frameworks where applicable.
Establish a positive and inclusive classroom culture that encourages intellectual curiosity, problem-solving, and resilience.
Use a variety of assessment strategies to monitor student progress and provide timely, constructive feedback.
Student Development and Pastoral Care
Take on a pastoral role, supporting a group of students in their academic and personal development.
Build trusting relationships with students from diverse cultural backgrounds, fostering confidence and a growth mindset.
Work collaboratively with colleagues to identify and support individual student needs.
Professional Growth and Collaboration
Engage in ongoing professional learning, staying current with developments in mathematics education and pedagogy.
Participate actively in departmental planning and school-wide professional development initiatives.
Contribute to a collaborative team culture, sharing resources and best practices with colleagues.
Contribution to School Life
Contribute to the school’s enrichment programme by leading or supporting mathematics-related clubs, competitions, or events.

Qualifications and Experience
A recognised professional teaching qualification, such as PGCE, QTS, or a valid U.S. state teaching license.
A bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Education, or a related field.
A minimum of two years of classroom teaching experience (meeting visa requirements).
Experience teaching IGCSE and/or A-Level Mathematics is highly preferred.
A strong commitment to safeguarding and child protection.
Knowledge, Skills, and Attributes
Strong subject knowledge in mathematics, with the ability to make abstract concepts accessible and engaging.
Effective classroom management skills suited to a diverse international school setting.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of building positive relationships with students, colleagues, and families.
