Job Title: IB PYP Coordinator

Role Overview
The IB PYP Coordinator leads the development, implementation, and ongoing review of the Primary Years Programme. This role ensures alignment with IB standards, fosters a collaborative inquiry-based culture, and bridges curriculum continuity across the school’s K-12 continuum.

Key Responsibilities
Curriculum Leadership

Oversee the full implementation of the PYP framework (transdisciplinary themes, concepts, approaches to learning, and inquiry cycles).

Lead curriculum mapping, unit planning, and assessment design in collaboration with grade-level teams and specialists.

Ensure vertical and horizontal articulation within Primary and alignment with MYP/DP pathways.

Pedagogical Guidance

Mentor and coach teachers in inquiry-based, concept-driven, and differentiated instruction.

Model best practices in teaching, learning, and formative/summative assessment.

Facilitate professional learning communities (PLCs) and weekly collaborative planning meetings.

Policy & Compliance

Maintain and update all PYP-related school policies (language, assessment, inclusion, academic honesty).

Lead the preparation and submission of IB evaluation and self-study documents.

Ensure full compliance with IB programme standards and practices.

Community & Communication

Act as the primary liaison between the school and the IB organization (IBEN visits, workshop registration, programme updates).

Organize parent information sessions and student-led conferences to build understanding of the PYP.

Work with admissions and marketing to articulate the PYP ethos to prospective families.

Strategic Development

Drive ongoing programme improvement based on data, feedback, and educational research.

Collaborate with the MYP/DP Coordinators to strengthen the K-12 learner journey.

Contribute to the school’s strategic plan regarding international education and innovation.

Requirements
Essential

Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field; Master’s preferred.

Minimum 3 years of PYP teaching experience, with at least 2 years in a PYP coordination or leadership role.

Deep knowledge of IB philosophy, standards, and evaluation processes.

Proven experience in leading collaborative curriculum development and teacher professional growth.

Excellent spoken and written English; Mandarin proficiency is a strong asset.
