Foreign Homeroom Teacher – Students’ age: 3-6 years old
About the contract
• Working Schedule: M onday -Thursday , 7:50am to 4: 20pm ; Friday 7:50am to 3:50pm
• Start Date : August 2026
• Location: Shanghai, China
• Class Size: 25-27 students, Chinese homeroom teacher , Chinese junior teacher, and life skil ls teacher
present at all times.
Requirements :
• Native English Language speaker ; from the UK, Ireland, New Zealand, Australia, USA, Canada , or South
Africa.
• At least 2 years relevant school teaching experience in country of origin preferred and abroad.
• TESOL /TEFL certificate preferred, however, must have an understanding of working alongside children
who have English as a second or third language .
• Experience working in a co -teaching and collaborative classroom environment.
• Experience teaching ESL, Letterland literacy curriculum utilized.
• Age required: 2 4 – 55 .
• Open to diversity and living within the Chinese culture and Shanghai.
• Ideal candidate must be an Early Years professional who is career oriented and passionate about
teaching and pedagogy. Bring a willingness to combine their western expertise with Chinese culture to
present the best of both worlds for the children.
Summary :
The ideal candidate would have a strong knowledge and/or experience and/or enthusiasm to teach early years
in a collaborative environment , along with a clear understanding of how to teach and to manage 24 -26 children
in a classroom , having an aware ness that all children learn differently as individuals. They should be comm itted
to developing and inspiring every pupil, to believe that they can and will succeed.
Experience in teaching Phonics , Language Development , and Numeracy s kills and a commitment to learning
about teaching pedagogies and theories to provide a purposeful, rich learning environment that facilitates
children’s learning and development.
It is expected that you have a sound understanding of behavioral management and how to positively guide
children’s behavior and take leadership within the classroom when working alongside a Chinese Co-Teacher
Annual base salary: RMB 250,000–300,000
Monthly housing allowance: RMB 10,710
Annual transportation subsidy: RMB 20,000
Total annual compensation: RMB 450,000–520,000
