Primary School Design Technology and Innovation (DTI) Teacher needed in Hangzhou

Language Requirements: Fluent English (required); proficiency in Mandarin (preferred)

Job responsibility
The Primary School DTI Teacher will deliver high‑quality, engaging, and age‑appropriate DTI lessons to students in Grades 1‑5. The role involves teaching design thinking, prototyping, digital literacy, and engineering principles, while integrating DTI with other subjects (e.g., math, science, ICT, and art). The teacher will also promote bilingualism, cultural awareness, and a growth mindset in alignment with the school’s mission.

Plan, prepare, and deliver DTI lessons in line with the PYP framework, and UK and Chinese National Curriculum standards.
Integrate design thinking, coding, robotics, and hands‑on prototyping into lessons.
Use inquiry‑based learning including differentiation at each grade level to encourage creativity, problem‑solving, and collaboration.

Teach primarily in English, with the ability to support students in Mandarin as needed.
Foster a bilingual learning environment that respects both Chinese and international perspectives.

Collaborate with math, science, ICT, and art teachers to create interdisciplinary projects.
Align DTI projects with STEM/STEAM initiatives and the school’s sustainability goals.

Assess student progress using formative and summative assessments (e.g., project portfolios, presentations, rubrics).
Provide detailed feedback to students and parents through reports and parent‑teacher conferences.
Maintain accurate records of student achievement and development.

Create a safe, inclusive, and stimulating classroom environment.
Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners, including EAL (English as an Additional Language) students.

Implement the school’s behavior policy consistently and fairly.
Promote positive reinforcement and restorative practices.

Work closely with the Primary School team to align DTI with the broader curriculum.
Participate in department meetings, training, and professional development.

Lead or support DTI‑related clubs (e.g., robotics, coding, or maker space).
Organize or contribute to school events (e.g., STEM/STEAM fairs, innovation showcases).

Maintain open and proactive communication with parents regarding student progress and DTI activities.
Encourage parent involvement in DTI projects and events.

Ensure all DTI activities comply with school safety policies and UK/international safety standards for tools and materials.
Conduct risk assessments for hands‑on projects and field trips.

Requirements:
BA degree in related field
2 years DTI teaching experience
DTI Teacher Qualifications
