Fashion designer assistant job

Job Description


1- Develop sample follow up.
2- Assist Designer to source and buy the fabric, trimming from Zhongda market and agencies in China.
3- Paper / stationery filing, fabric card, trims card archiving,keep the workplace organized and clear.
4- Assist Designer to make technical drawing / folders, baste draping etc.
5- Update all new fashion / marketing information, inspiration researches and report the designer.
6- Update Weibo company.
7- Facilitate the communication in between the designer and other suppliers / manufacturers. ( explanation of technical drawings to the pattern cutter, translation, keep a glossary updated...)
8- Help with negotiation with some suppliers.
9- Run some others errands



Skills

• Fluent Mandarin (Cantonese optional) spoken and written
• Fluent English spoken & written.
• Knowledge of garment construction
• Independent, motivated and fast learner
• Familiar with local (ZhongDa) fabric market, and willing to travel in Guangzhou. Sourcing aptitude for fabric, accessories and trimming (able to contact factories, go shopping to market according to a specific request...)

• University graduation degree or above,
• At least 1 year in fashion designing experience, good sourcing skills and high fashion design knowledge.
• Basic technical skills related to sawing and draping; able to pin on a model or a model during a fitting, handsaw a little, cut fabric, iron...
• Basic drawing / sketch skills
• Can use “Photoshop”, “illustrator”, CorelDraw, Excel. (optional)
• Experience in making pictures/ inspiration researches on internet, magazines, streets, shops... (optional)
• Good communication skill, active & responsibilities, can work under pressure.
• Team player, organized and communicative
• Negotiation aptitude (for small quantities productions).
