Job responsibilities
Quality Planning:
Develop quality plans and protocols specific to new products, outlining inspection processes and acceptance criteria.
Collaborate with R&D and engineering teams to understand product specifications and quality requirements.
Prototype Evaluation:
Conduct initial inspections and tests on prototypes to validate design and functionality.
Provide feedback on potential quality issues during the design and development stages.
Establishing Standards:
Define and document quality standards and procedures for new products.
Ensure that all QC processes align with the overall product development strategy.
Supplier Quality Assurance:
Assess and qualify suppliers for materials and components used in new products.
Work with suppliers to resolve quality issues and ensure consistent quality of incoming materials.
Pilot Production Oversight:
Monitor pilot runs of new products to identify and address quality issues before full-scale production.
Collaborate with the production team to implement necessary adjustments based on quality findings.
Customer Feedback Integration:
Gather and analyze customer feedback through sales and product development on new products to inform future quality improvements.
Adjust quality standards and procedures based on real-world performance and customer expectations.
Continuous Improvement:
Promote a culture of continuous improvement by encouraging team members to suggest enhancements to quality processes during the NPI phase.
Job qualification
Educational Background
1. Degree in a Relevant Field:
o Bachelor’s degree in an electronic or mechanical Engineering, Quality Assurance, Manufacturing, or a related field.
o Advanced degrees or certifications in Quality Management (e.g., Six Sigma, ISO 9001, CQE) are a plus.
Experience
2. Quality Control Experience:
o Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in quality control or quality assurance within a manufacturing environment.
o Experience in managing a QC team is highly desirable.
3. NPI Experience:
o Demonstrated experience in quality management during the NPI phase, including product testing, validation, and feedback incorporation.
4. Familiarity with Manufacturing Processes:
o Knowledge of manufacturing processes relevant to the lighting industry and die-casting ,moulding process is preferred (e.g., machining, assembly, electronics).
Skills
5. Technical Skills:
o Proficient in quality inspection techniques and tools (e.g., statistical process control, root cause analysis).
o Experience with quality management software and data analysis tools.
6. Regulatory Knowledge:
o Understanding of industry standards and regulations (e.g., ISO standards, GMP, FDA requirements) applicable to the products being manufactured.
7. Problem-Solving Skills:
o Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify issues and develop effective solutions quickly.
Leadership and Communication
8. Supervisory Skills:
o Proven leadership and team management capabilities, including the ability to motivate and develop team members.
9. Communication Skills:
o Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact effectively with cross-functional teams, management, and external stakeholders.
10. Interpersonal Skills:
o Ability to collaborate and build relationships with colleagues, suppliers, and customers to address quality concerns and promote a quality culture.

Astera is a German hardware, software and manufacturing specialist. Since the mid-2000s, Astera has been producing battery powered, remote controlled LED lights.
In 2007 Astera moved its factory from Germany to Shenzhen/China, the worldwide hub of LED technology and electronic innovation. By now, this factory has been extended to more than 5000 sqm and is run by an international team of specialists.

A range of battery spotlights has been used to illuminate numerous world-famous events.
In 2018, Astera noticed an increasing demand from the media industry for portable lights that can be used to shoot movies, commercials, music videos etc and decided to build a product dedicated for this market. Astera got in touch with gaffers and cinematographers and with their help developed the award-winning Titan Tube.
