Position Title: IBDP Science Teacher (Physics Specialization)

Position Overview
The Science Teacher (Physics Specialization) is a key faculty member responsible for delivering high-quality, inquiry-based physics education within the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) curriculum. The teacher will inspire students to develop scientific curiosity, critical thinking, and practical investigative skills, while fostering a supportive and challenging learning environment aligned with the school’s mission of uniting people, nations, and cultures for peace and a sustainable future.
Key Responsibilities
Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging and rigorous lessons for IBDP Physics (and potentially IGCSE Physics), ensuring alignment with program standards and philosophies.
Design, supervise, and guide students in laboratory investigations, emphasizing safety, scientific methodology, data analysis, and the ethical use of technology in science.
Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of students in a bilingual, multicultural setting.
Assess student progress through a variety of formative and summative methods, including internal assessments (IA) for IBDP, and provide timely, constructive feedback.
Collaborate with colleagues within the Science Department and across disciplines to promote interdisciplinary learning and curriculum coherence.
Contribute to the development, maintenance, and inventory of science laboratory resources and equipment.
Integrate educational technology and digital tools effectively to enhance the teaching and learning of physics concepts.
Mentor and support students in their academic and personal growth, potentially through the school’s advisory or residential programs.
Participate actively in co-curricular activities, such as science clubs, competitions, or exhibitions, and support school-wide events.
Engage in ongoing professional development to remain current with IB/IGCSE updates, pedagogical research, and best practices in science education.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Physics, Physics Education, Engineering, or a closely related field; a Master’s degree or teaching certification is preferred.
Minimum of 2–3 years of experience teaching Physics at the secondary level, with specific experience in IBDP Physics highly desirable. IGCSE experience is an advantage.
Proven experience in managing and instructing in a laboratory environment, with a strong commitment to safety protocols.
Experience in a bilingual or international school setting is highly valued.
Excellent interpersonal and intercultural communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, colleagues, and parents.
Proficiency in using educational technology, data loggers, simulation software, and other digital tools to support physics instruction.
Flexibility, adaptability, and a collaborative spirit to thrive in a dynamic, residential school community.
Strong organizational skills for lesson planning, laboratory management, and academic reporting.
